He escaped Pakistan’s blood thirsty student politics of the 80’s. He exposed American corporate hypocrisy-from the inside. He never gave up, his resilience made him survive and prosper. What’s next? is always on his agenda!
25 years ago:
It was hard, in the end, to figure out what to take and what to leave behind. Spread over the bed in his room in his old city house. Drifts of clothing, books in English and his beloved music records. It was a August morning some 25 years back in Lahore, the capital of Punjab; outside, roosters screamed under a stinging equatorial sun; the door propped open by a wastebasket. Everything he owned, all the objects and talismans gathered during his formative years of Medical School, were neatly stacked in his old charm room. In the morning he would leave everything behind in pursuit of advance education and prosperity, hoping to reach yet another new life. It didn’t matter, really, what stuff he carried along. “I don’t care about things, I am just going to miss my parents, my friends, the smell of my city, my homeland”. He was about to start a journey in pursuit of an American Dream!!!
