Professor Muhammad Tufail Chaudhry​

Mubashir Chaudhry was born on a warm, sunny day in Lahore, Pakistan. During his early life as a child, Mubashir was sent to a prestigious elementary school where he developed many friends, many still known to him. The high school was competitive and Mubashir was involved in many sports activities and graduated in 1978. Soon after graduation, Mubashir joined a pre-med program for 2 years. He completed the program successfully and entered medical school in the early 1980s. The medical school was truly both a growing and transforming experience for Mubashir, where he made life-long friends. Many of them are practicing medicine in the United States. During his training in medical school, Mubashir started helping patients who needed free treatment because of their socio-economic status. These acts became rewarding and he became motivated for many in need. Because of his outgoing and unsettling desire to help patients, Mubashir became very close to his professors who were supportive of his passion for the ailing humanity.

Comppleted MPH

After graduating from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Mubashir continued to practice medicine in Lahore, Pakistan. At the end of a few years of servicing the Lahore population of patients, Mubashir made his way to Dublin, Ireland, where he briefly pursued his desire to advance his knowledge of medicine. Mubashir realized that the United States (US) was extremely progressive in the field of medicine and thus would be the best place for further advancing his career. Mubashir planned to migrate permanently to US without delay.

Mubashir had visited US before in 1993, as a personal physician to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, with whom he had served for five years early in his medical career.

Mubashir reached Houston, Texas in August 1995. During the early years, Mubashir faced extreme hardship to make ends meet. Advancing in his career and studies, he served at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine, as an administrative consultant to highly recognized and talented, Dr. Jimmy Frank Howell, Professor of Cardio-thoracic surgery at the DeBakey Heart Center.

Advancing in his career and studies, he served at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine, as an administrative consultant to highly recognized and talented, Dr. Jimmy Frank Howell, Professor of Cardio-thoracic surgery at the DeBakey Heart Center.
Also during that time, Mubashir completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) while assisting in operative procedures as a first surgical assistant. Mubashir felt the educational and financial challenges he experienced coming to the United States, resulted in personal growth. He feels the struggles he encountered could benefit others, where research and education complement each other.

Passion for Surgery

Also during that time, Mubashir completed his Masters in Public Health (MPH) while assisting in operative procedures as a first surgical assistant. Mubashir felt the educational and financial challenges he experienced coming to the United States, resulted in personal growth. He feels the struggles he encountered could benefit others, where research and education complement each other.

Further advancing his career, Mubashir was accepted in the Doctorate in Public Health Program at University of Texas. He was the number 1 candidate on a competitive basis in the School of Public Health and received a scholarship. This scholarship was based on work and research performed by him during the early years of his education at University of Texas and Baylor College of Medicine. Mubashir successfully completed DrPH program in 2018 and continued with additional research in the healthcare arena. Mubashir’s research was accepted at American Public Health Association in San Diego, California 2018 followed by Academy Health in Boston, June 2020.
